Ek het selfs \u2019n sertifikaat ontvang vir vyf jaar getroue skoolbywoning \u2013 danksy die onderwysers wat die teenwoordigheidsregister slegs in die oggende voltooi het.<\/p><p data-start=\"412\" data-end=\"632\">Na skool het ek kontak behou met vriende soos Worsie, Suna, Plankie, Stella, Ettienne le Roux, Ferdinand Kriek, Chris Maree, Nappy, Loekie Louw, Anton Kr\u00fcger en Tolie van der Vyver. \u2019n Paar van ons het gereeld gaan roei.<\/p><p data-start=\"634\" data-end=\"753\">In 1981 het Elmarie en ek die knoop deurgehak. Sy was \u2019n onderwyseres by Ho\u00ebrskool Menlopark, en was langer daar as ek.<\/p><p data-start=\"755\" data-end=\"1029\">Worsie het in sy stuk vertel van ons Kombi-dae \u2013 ek kan baie storietjies byvoeg, maar aangesien ons nou albei oupas is en meer ordentlik probeer wees, weerhou ek my liewers. Elmarie en ek het destyds ook \u2019n Kombi gehad, en ons het die hele land vol getoer, gekuier en gebly.<\/p><p data-start=\"1031\" data-end=\"1457\">Ek het buitemuurs aan UNISA studeer terwyl ek by die Departement van Finansies en later die Staatsdienskommissie gewerk het. Daarna het ek as bestuurskonsultant vir internasionale maatskappye gewerk, meestal aan projekte vir die Europese Kommissie. Later het ek die finansies van \u2019n Chinese verskepingsmaatskappy in Sandton bestuur. Verkeer was \u2019n nagmerrie, en ek het daagliks met my motorfiets van Pretoria af werk toe gery.<\/p><p data-start=\"1459\" data-end=\"1797\">Ons het baie tyd in Asi\u00eb deurgebring, en in 2016, nadat albei ons kinders getroud is, het ons besluit om nuwe avonture aan te pak. Ons het in Asi\u00eb gaan werk en tydens ons ruim verlof elke jaar die hele kontinent verken \u2013 van die Himalajas in Nepal tot met die Mekongrivier af see toe. Sedert ons terug is, is ons weer volstoom aan\u2019t reis.<\/p><p data-start=\"1799\" data-end=\"2065\">Ons twee kinders werk albei in die finansi\u00eble sektor: Kobus woon ook in Pretoria, en Carli bly in Mauritius \u2013 \u2019n uitstekende verskoning vir gereelde kuiers. Daar het ek onlangs geleer branderplank ry en was die oudste leerling nog by die plaaslike branderplankskool.<\/p><p data-start=\"2067\" data-end=\"2163\">Verder verryk twee kleinkinders \u2013 wat natuurlik pragtig is (soos almal s\u2019n) \u2013 ons lewe daagliks.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Skool was vir my lekker.
